Certification covers the whole assembly — leaf, frame, strips, hinges and the gap around it. Change the ironmongery or widen the gaps and the rating is gone, while the door still looks perfectly fine.
Fire doors fitted so certification holds. We do not alter structure — that needs an engineer.

The point we will not bend on is fire door installation. Certification applies to a complete assembly — leaf, frame, intumescent strips, smoke seals, hinges, closer, latch and the gap around the leaf. Fit a certified door outside its tolerances, swap the hinges, or leave off the closer because a client dislikes it, and the door may no longer hold back fire for its rated period while looking entirely correct. We fit complete door sets to specification and hand over the certification evidence. We do not alter load-bearing structure, and gas and notifiable electrical work goes to registered trades.
Only if it is a complete certified set with the right ironmongery and we can fit it within tolerance. A certified leaf fitted with the wrong hinges or an oversized gap may not perform, and we will not sign off work that looks right and is not.
If the specification requires one, yes. A fire door that cannot close by itself does not hold back fire, and removing a closer because it is inconvenient defeats the only purpose the door has.
Part K requires that a 100 mm sphere cannot pass through any gap in guarding, which exists so a small child cannot get through or get stuck. It rules out several spacings people prefer, and it is not negotiable.
Usually, from a short offcut. Those profiles have not been made commercially for a century, so copying the existing section is the only way a repair blends in.
No. Anything load-bearing needs a structural engineer's design and building control approval. We will tell you when a wall is structural rather than guessing.
No. Gas work needs a Gas Safe registered engineer and notifiable electrical work a registered electrician. We fit the joinery and coordinate with them.
